Academy of Emergency Medicine recognizes Dr. Goldman

FHP_Goldman.jpgThe American Academy of Emergency Medicine has created a new award, named after the medical director of the Pediatric Emergency Department at Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital at St.Vincent, recognizing him for his years of service as an oral board exam educator. The Mitchell Goldman, DO, Service Award for oral board examiners recognizes Dr. Goldman’s devotion and commitment to AAEM’s Oral Board Review Course and its educational programs.


Dr. Goldman has served as an oral board examiner since 1996. Once emergency physicians have completed their written board examinations, Dr. Goldman teaches them on preparation for the oral board exam. He also coordinates the administration of the oral exams, which are held in various locations around the country.


FHP_Escobar.jpgLuis Escobar, MD, medical director, Medical Genetics & Newborn Follow up, is the 2009 recipient of the Edwin L. Gresham Award from the Indiana Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics. The award recognizes individuals who have made contributions in perinatal medicine. In the ceremony leading up to his award presentation, Dr. Escobar’s colleagues praised him for his contributions to the field of medical genetics, which have brought him international recognition.


“I am very happy to join some distinguished colleagues who have received this award in the past including Dr. Niceta Bradburn of St.Vincent Women’s Hospital and Drs. James Lemons and David Weaver of the Indiana University School of Medicine,” said Dr. Escobar.
