Infectious Diseases

Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital at St.Vincent provides comprehensive care and services in the management of infants, children and adolescents with acute or chronic bacterial, viral or fungal infections. These serious – sometimes life-threatening – diseases can be especially difficult to treat in children. Our infectious disease team works closely with other pediatric specialists, as infectious disease management can be critical in treating young patients’ other medical conditions.

Our infectious diseases team specializes in diagnosing illnesses of unclear causes and treating difficult infections, including

  • Abdominal abscesses
  • Bone and joint infections
  • Central nervous system infections
  • Fever of unknown origin
  • HIV/AIDS
  • Infections related to cancer, HIV and immune deficiencies
  • MRSA (methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus)
  • Respiratory tract infections
  • Travel-related infections, such as malaria or other parasitic infections
  • Urinary tract infections
